Happy International Children’s Book Day!

Since 1967, the International Board on Books for Young People www.ibby.org has sponsored on Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, 2 April, International Children's Book Day.

This day is celebrated to inspire a love of reading and to call attention to children's books.  IBBY decides upon a theme and invites a prominent author from the host country to write a message to the children of the world and a well-known illustrator to design a poster to promote books and reading. This year the host country is the United States. The theme for 2013 is “Book Joy Around the World”.  Ashley Bryan and Pat Mora created this poster:
